Large chest decorated with a floral design in shades of blue, using the traditional technique of wheat straw veneering. The technique of wheat straw veneering is typical of the ancestral peoples of San Juan de Pasto, capital of the department of Nariño in Colombia, and is one of the oldest and most distinctive craft techniques in the area. This technique consists of creating strands and/or molds from wheat fiber that has been flattened and dyed with natural dyes, which are then attached to wooden bases, such as bowls, vases, chests, or any other product made of wood, creating designs rich in color, culture, and tradition.
